Even though government and many OEM's are trying to bring more and more electric vehicles on road, but still it’s important to see how many of electric vehicles are actually getting sold and which are options are available for customers.

  •  Sales figures of electric vehicles:

If you see scenario before 5 years, electric vehicles sold in few numbers and restricted to specific to metro cities like Bangalore. However Electric vehicles are gaining traction in Indian market in last 1-2 years. In FY2020, total 3,400 units of Passenger EVs were soldwhile in  FY2021 total 5,902 units were sold, so overall  YoY increase of a 74 percent.

If you see market share distribution of electric vehicles, there are only 2 prominent companies i.e. TML and MG which are doing well in electric vehicle segment.
Especially TML which dominates EV passenger space with about 71.4 % of market share. (Nexon + Tigor).
Major automotive players like Maruti-Suzuki and Hyundai yet to make fledged entry with smaller cars. Mahindra electric, which is one of the pioneer of electric vehicles in india(after acquisition of Reva electric) not performing as expectations.
